Viking Romantic Danube River Cruise

Historical Stone Bridge and Bridge tower in Regensburg

My girlfriends and I went on the Viking Romantic Danube river cruise last spring.  It was an experience of a lifetime. This 8-day journey encompassed 5 guided tours across 3 countries, each brimming with its own unique charm and splendor.

Onboard Experience

Accommodation:

The staterooms on the Viking Longship were a blend of comfort and elegance. With well-thought-out amenities and a river view that was ever-changing, the room provided a serene sanctuary after a day of exploration. We all chose the window view staterooms.

Dining:

The dining on board was a culinary delight. Each meal offered a range of options, including regional specialties that changed as we moved from one country to the next. The quality of the food and the service was impeccable, making each dining experience a pleasure.

Service:

The service on the Viking cruise stood out for its professionalism and warmth. The crew was knowledgeable, attentive, and always available to make our journey more comfortable and enjoyable.

Itinerary Highlights

Budapest, Hungary:

The cruise began in the stunning city of Budapest. A guided tour highlighted the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. The evening cruise along the Danube, with the city lights glistening, was a magical introduction to the journey.

Vienna, Austria:

Vienna was a blend of imperial grandeur and artistic genius. The guided tour included a visit to the majestic Schönbrunn Palace and an evening concert that was a cultural treat, capturing the essence of Viennese music.

Wachau Valley:

Cruising through the Wachau Valley was a visual feast. The picturesque landscape, dotted with vineyards and quaint villages, was like something out of a storybook.

Regensburg, Germany:

In Regensburg, medieval architecture took center stage. Walking through the city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, felt like stepping back in time.

Overall:

The Viking Romantic Danube river cruise was not just a journey through three countries but a voyage through history, culture, and culinary delights.  We enjoyed the balance of guided tours and leisure time allowed for a personalized experience. This cruise was not just a trip; it was an immersion into the heart of Europe’s most enchanting regions.
